Trevor and Family,
Please accept my deepest sympathy during your times of grieving. Although I was very young,
my memory of Rose is still vivid as is my memory of her wonderful family (The Smiths). My prayer is that we will all see our loved ones again on that great day when we all get to heaven. What a rejoicing that will be.

My deepest condolences to the Robinson and Smith family. Sister Robinson was very warm and welcoming. Sabbath lunches in her home were very tasty and educational. After lunches we would have very educational spirit-filled discussions. Nick and Neal, you had an amazing mother. Sister Robinson would always greet me after church with her warm smile and a hug. May God comfort you and your family during this time. Thanks for sharing your mom

To Trevor, Neal and Nicky, I want to extend my condolences to you at this sad time. I admire the care and passion that you gave to your wife and mom over the years. My time knowing her, she was kind and loving towards me and Aimee but even before then growing up in Jamaica as a young girl,I remember her coming by and enjoying all the lunches that my grandma would cook for all the teachers at Cokes View Primary School and Rose was apart of the group. Their laughter and warmth was infectious. So, just take comfort that she is resting and we will see her again. And to all the brothers and sisters, and all the relatives, my prayers are with you for comfort at this time. May God bless you all! Aimee's Mom - Elaine

Mrs. Robinson was a wonderful person, neighbour and friend. She was never overwhelmed or annoyed by my many unannounced visits. She welcomed me into her home and family with open arms. She had a distinct way she said my name an I can still hear her voice, to this very day. Her pleasant manner could brighten up anyone’s day. I’m sorry she didn’t get to see my daughter or know the closeness in names they share. I was reminded that Mother’s Day should be everyday. As I went over to say hi, not knowing I’d be late to say good bye. But love is the result of that bond from the day I moved in and that love will always be there, whether we are far or near. RIP until we meet again. I’d be honoured to be your neighbour in heaven. Love always Freda.

Tribute to Mrs. Rose Robinson nee Smith
May 2020
Summer, 2016.
Ring…Ring…
Hello!
Hi Faye! You *need* to go and look for Rose.
That was Dawn after one of her visits to Canada.
A few months later, I had gotten my visa, but there was never the urge to go. Rose and I spoke frequently, and our birthday calls were a sure thing.
Summer, 2018.
Ring…Ring…
Hello!
Hi Faye! You *must* go and look for Rose.
That was Dawn again after another visit to Canada. This time, I could hear the urgency in her voice.
“I must go,“ I said to myself.
“But when is the best time to go?” I wondered. So, I decided to visit Rose when Trevor was on his well-deserved yearly break to Jamaica. I figured that would be the time that she would need me most.
Many years ago, I promised myself that the only encounter I would have with ice would be in a glass of lemonade. And definitely not as blankets of snow during a North American winter. Yet, here I was jetting off from Jamaica to Canada in the coldest month of the year.
Rose cried when we hugged. I had reached at-last! All four of us Smith girls were together one more time. Mama would have been proud. It was a good feeling, and we had a great time despite the circumstances.
Many nights Rose and I talked and talked and talked some more. With she laying in bed and me, sitting on a chair by her. And off we went hand in hand, down Memory Lane. That was what she loved.
Rose still had her wits about her, a sharp memory and a great sense of humor.
For example:
If you know Rose, you would know that some of her most prized and precious possessions were her china, crystal, and silver wares. It was her greatest joy to have them cleaned and polished. On one occasion, she recalled that she could not get anyone to clean them. Of course, Trevor was not volunteering, and then she became agitated. In a mellow tone, Trevor turned to her said,
“When we are gone, dear, the boys are going to sell the house and if they get
a buyer they are going to throw in your china, crystals
and silver wares to sweeten the deal.”
She told me that she was angry when he said this, but now she saw the humor in it. We both had a good laugh.
Rose’s memory was sharp. In one of our talks, she reminded me I had asked her a question years ago that bothered her for many years because she had no answer for me. I was happy for her that Cos was able to clear the air, and a burden was lifted off her shoulder.
Rose was always kind to me. When I was small, she made me a dress that I could only wear once. This was a running joke between us. She also bought me my first birthday present. I woke up one birthday morning with a pink box sitting beside my head. My mother, ironing close by, said: “That’s from your sister Rose.” It was a plastic Caucasian doll-set with a pink dining set: cup and saucer, knife, fork, spoon, etc. The doll had no hair to comb, but I loved it. Strangely, for days I would be missing pieces from the pink dining set. To this day, I still wonder where they went. “Dawn can you tell me where they went?”
These special memories of Rose will always bring me to smile. If only I could have her back for just a little while longer. Then we could talk again like we used to do during our visits. The fact that she is no longer here will always cause me pain, but I cannot be too selfish. I must let her go.
One of Rose’s greatest fears was to be placed in a nursing home, away from her family. But God stepped in and granted her final wish. She went from the comfort of her home with her loving family surrounding her.
Thank you Trevor, Nicky, and Neal for being there when she needed you most. You did a great job. Thanks also to sister; June, daughter-in-law; Laurie, and the grandchildren. I am proud of you. May God bless you all.
Rose, I know it is tough to say good-bye, so I will not.
Sleep on big sister, sleep on.
You are forever in my heart.
Until we meet again.
From your loving sister,
Melody (Faye).

To us, Rose was our second mother – very protective and nurturing. She had an input in naming our 3 kids (Cherisse, Patrisse, and Orville) and took great interest in them. She used every opportunity to tell us how proud she was of them and how proud Mama would have been.
We knew Rose was going but that did not lessen the pain. It seems like losing Mama all over again.
We are blessed for having Rose in our lives and her passing has left a void in our hearts that no one can fill.

The full meaning of death is not realized until we suffer loss of our own. The house is empty, songs give way to sighs and tears fall freely as we think of our loss.
Rose was a quiet, soft- spoken individual, who treat others with respect and always wear a smile. She likes to have things in order and would take over the role of 'mother' in the family. During her visits especially for Christmas, Rose would be the main organizer for the duration. From sleeping arrangements, distrubution of gifts, dinner, household duties and leisure time activities.
Rose was full of life and had a special love for her family. During her frequent visits to Jamaica, she would be visiting Aunt Claris, Aunt Lee, Aunt Polly and her dear friend Mrs.Cawley among others. There was always a gift for family members and friends whenever she visited them.
Rose has departed from this life, left us with lasting memories that we will share and cherish. These memories will live on giving us a piece of mind.
We may sleep, but not forever,
There will be a glorious dawn
We shall meet to part, no never.
On the resurrection morn.
Sleep on, Rose we love you but God loves you best.

Tribute to Sister Rose
We were blessed to have you so many years,
but now we must say our goodbyes.
We’ve shared so many precious moments:
weddings, reunions, graduations, farewells.
We have lost one of our biggest supporters in our accomplishments.
The family chain is broken, and we have lost a jewel.
You were a gracious hostess on our many Canadian vacations,
to places like Canada’s Wonderland, CN Tower, and Niagara Falls.
The countless shopping sprees, Sabbath luncheons, backyard barbeques,
you were a trooper through it all.
You had such poise, beauty, and elegance.
You were big on etiquette and punctuality, a good listener, role model, friend.
Your treasure of photo albums reflects you have lived a lot,
and you have been loved a lot.
Rest in peace dear sister, as God has secured another Rose in His garden.
Your sister Dawn (Sandra), Errol, Darren and Alyssandra

Let me first say that Rose lived a life of courage, beauty and bravery. No complaints, just smiles and laughter during our visits with her. I’ll always remember fondly her sitting week after week in the same pew at church. While others probably saw the calm, quiet, and self-assured woman, I got to know the fun and playful side as we would chat about life, motherhood, dreams and aspirations. She was truly a beautiful person and I am truly honored and blessed to have known her. May the Lord give you comfort and peace as you go through this time of bereavement. Condolences are extended to the entire family on behalf of Ron and myself.
